Barack Hussein Obama II is an American politician and attorney. He is best known for being the 44th President of the United States (2009-2017), succeeding George W. Bush and preceding Donald Trump.

He has been satirized by The Boondocks, especially throughout the show's third season. Despite Aaron McGruder being both black and liberal, he disagreed with many in his community, as he considered Obama to be just another over-hyped politician.

History[]

The episode "It's a Black President, Huey Freeman" covered Barack Obama's victory in the 2008 US presidential election over John McCain, and his inauguration to the White House in 2009. Many liberals and Democrats (Robert, Riley, Tom, Sarah, Jazmine, Thugnificent, etc.) hyped up Obama because he is the first African-American President, along with his overly optimistic campaign promises. Meanwhile conservatives and Republicans (especially Ruckus) feared that his presidency would spell doom for the United States. Meanwhile Huey expresses great indifference about Obama.

Later in "The Fried Chicken Flu", while an apparent viral epidemic originating from fried chicken restaurants spreads across the world, President Obama delivers two televised speeches calling on the American people to help each other in this crisis, even though he admits that he and his family will fare much better inside the White House bunker.

In the climax of "It's Goin' Down", Barack Obama sends a phone call to Agent Jack Flowers thanking him for his service, but also forcing him to stop holding Ed Wuncler I at gunpoint, as Ed I is considered to be untouchable by the law.

In the climax and ending of "I Dream of Siri", after Siri framed Robert for terrorism (which almost got him killed by a drone strike), Obama has to remove Mr. Freeman from his kill list.

Trivia[]

  • Barack Obama was voiced by Marlin Hill, who is known for his uncanny vocal impersonation of the President.
  • Werner Herzog points out that Barack Obama looks a lot like Tom DuBois; however the former is a more attractive, wealthy, and powerful version of the latter. This is the explanation given for Sarah DuBois' crush on the new President.
