"Good Times" is the second episode of the fourth season of The Boondocks. It originally aired on April 28, 2014.
Plot[]
Granddad makes an announcement that he, Huey, and Riley are going to leave Woodcrest "forever" due to paying his millions to Ed Wuncler II's insurance company.
Continuity[]
- This marks the first appearance of Ed Wuncler Sr.'s son, Ed Wuncler II.
- This marks the only mention of N***a Moments outside of the episodes that feature Colonel H. Stinkmeaner.
- This is the first episode in the series to be rated TV-MA L.
- This is also the first episode to allow the word "shit" unbleeped on television from Adult Swim's approval, which is the possible reason to be TV-MA L.
Cultural references[]
- Whenever Granddad says a line from the Good Times theme song, the choir from the show say Good Times in the exact same manner they did on the show.
- When Granddad breaks the punchbowl and shouts "Damn, damn, damn!", this is a reference to a famous Good Times scene where Florida Evans accepts that her husband is dead.
- Ed Wuncler I is called a "Mr. Burns knockoff."
- Rush Limbaugh's radio show is depicted.
- Ruckus participates in the 2012 Republican Party presidential primaries, a parody of Herman Cain.
- Huey reads Home Alone: My Emancipation Story, a (fictional) autobiography by Macaulay Culkin.
- The house with lodgers is compared to the Occupy movement.
- Granddad is said to look like Louis Gossett Jr.
Reception[]
The A.V. Club scored it "B+".
